Crime Stoppers Conference at Sea

CSUSA logoOver the last week, we were most fortunate to spend time with Crime Stoppers USA at their Annual General Meeting.  The meeting was held on board the Carnival Splendor and, by all accounts, everyone’s expectations were met…and exceeded.

Through our time together, a number of broad topics were covered (the itinerary can be found HERE):

  • Board Governance
  • Succession
  • IRS changes and legislation pertinent to non-profits
  • Media Relations
  • Promotions
  • Revenue

From our vantage, we could see a very passionate group of individual Crime Stopper programs and a small sample of the folks we spoke with arrived from Pueblo CO, Charlotte NC, Grand Rapids MI, Arlington TX, Minneapolis MN, Baton Rouge LA, Seattle WA, Jackson TN, San Jose CA…and points in between.  The CSUSA Board is a vibrant group blessed with both tremendous experience and fresh perspective; both attributes will weigh heavily in determining success through time.

jeanblockJean Block spent considerable time in front of the group and with individual Crime Stopper organizations; more than a few pearls can be found at her website (found HERE) and signing up to Jean’s newsletter can be done HERE (archive editions are also available).  Equally, most non-profits should be familiar with the Board Source website as it offers an impressive array of tools and resources.
